Nintendo Wii Initial Impressions

I've bought a Nintendo Wii with Zelda: Twilight Princess.

I was impressed by how easy the system was to setup and the accuracy of the wireless controller. The Wii even connected to my wireless network flawlessly.

After playing the free Wii Sports game, I downloaded the Opera web browser. It is better than I expected, but I miss having a full qwerty keyboard. Having to select each letter individually is a pain.

Overall I like the Wii, Nintendo have done an excellent job! Only 179.99, bargain!

Unique Numbers

In my last job, each till transaction required a unique number, because all sales where collected from the tills databases and stored in main server database.

The problem was when you had independent tills in a couple of branches, how do you generate unique numbers.

Our final solution was to use the date and time, prefixed by the branch and till id. EG: 0123320061008160000

If you need more than one record per second, you can add milliseconds to the transaction ID.

Maggot Hunt

I poped round to my friends house on Monday. I hadn't seen them since they went on their honeymoon.

As was looking out the rear window, I noticed a something crawling up the window. At forst I thought it was baby slugs, but my mate said they where maggots. We opened the ktichen door to investigate and found a large number of maggots crawling around.

My mate suggested we spray them with bleach. So we went round to the back of the house and gave them a good dousing. Hopefully this will get rid of them.

It was really strange, something you don't see everyday.

Back From Dublin

Well I'm back from my holiday in Dublin. I had good fun, drank lots of Guinness and ate nice food.

The bad news is that the hostel is going to be demolished within the next two years. So we'll have to find somewhere new to stay.

I can't wait until next year.

Dublin

I'm going on holiday next Friday, to Dublin to drink lots of Guinness. I went last year and it was great, the best holiday I've been on.

Even though Guinness served in the UK, is brewed in Dublin, it still doesn't taste the same.

Last year, we were at the Liverpool John Lennon Airport at 04:30 to catch a plane at 07:00. Luckly Ryaniar now fly out of Blackpool Airport, to Dublin, at 13:00, which is much more convenient.

Car Stereo Stolen

On Friday 25th May 2006, my car stereo was stolen from my car! It happened between 21:00 and 00:30.

All they did to get in, was use a screw driver to make a hole next to the door lock. Once the hole was made, they used the screw driver to push up the lever, connected to the door catch, which opened the door.

The police technical support guy, said it was a design flaw of most small cars.

Isn't life great :o(
